Discount Vinyl Flooring:

Buying and Installing Discount Vinyl Flooring

Getting discount vinyl flooring is not that difficult a task these days. The only real trick to it is finding the right place, usually online. It is a fact of life that the Internet can be a source of information, produce, housing, and countless other products. So, why not discount vinyl flooring?

Do a Search

So, the first step in finding some discount vinyl flooring is to go online and find yourself a decent search engine. Anything from Yahoo to Google to MSN and Ask.com will serve the purpose. Next, type in A search for discount vinyl flooring. You will get a very long list, as there are a great many firms that offer rolls of vinyl flooring and/or vinyl tiles.

Do your Homework

So, out of this plethora of discount vinyl flooring providers, which one do you select? Well, first, ask yourself what type of vinyl flooring you are looking for. Do you want vinyl tiles, or sheets of rolled vinyl flooring? After that, click on some of the companies, and see what sort of discounts they have on their discount vinyl flooring. Be cautious, compare prices. After all, just because they say they have a discount, doesn’t mean they really do. Also, pay attention as to where the companies are located. In some cases, one may have higher/lower shipping and handling charges than another; and you may have sales taxes to pay with some companies and not others.

Installing

Once you have the discount vinyl flooring, you’ll want to install it. So, start by cleaning the floor space; it’s got to be clean, dry, and level. Also be sure to remove any molding. Measure the room, and cut the sheet of vinyl accordingly. Some people like to make a small floor plan, others just measure. However you do it, leave about three inches all around the edges, so you can trim the vinyl precisely as you lay it.

After the rough cut, lay the vinyl in place and use a two-by-four to crease it right where the floor meets the wall; then cut at the crease. Then comes the adhesive; you either cover the floor, or just do it at the perimeter. Either way, lay the vinyl in position, then peel back a portion of it. Use a notched trowel to apply the adhesive, and let it sit for the recommended time (see manufacturer’s instructions), then carefully ease the vinyl into position. Press it down firmly, and then repeat the process for the other half. In this way, your discount vinyl flooring will be put in place.
